General Questions

What are your opening hours?

We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00, and Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00. We are closed on Mondays and major public holidays. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time. Special hours may apply during holidays or special events - check our website or call ahead if you're visiting during a holiday period.

How much does admission cost?

Adult admission is €12, seniors (65+) pay €9, students pay €8, and children (6-17) pay €6. Children under 6 are admitted free. We also offer family passes for €28 (2 adults + up to 3 children) and annual memberships for €60. See our pricing page for complete details including group discounts.

Do I need to book in advance?

General admission does not require advance booking - you can simply arrive during our opening hours. However, we strongly recommend booking in advance for guided tours, educational programs, behind-the-scenes tours, and research access. Group visits (10+ people) must be booked in advance. Booking ensures availability and allows us to prepare for your visit.

How long does a typical visit take?

Most visitors spend between 1.5 and 3 hours exploring our galleries. If you're taking a guided tour, plan for the tour duration (90 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on the tour type) plus additional time if you want to explore on your own afterward. For school programs and workshops, plan for 2-4 hours. You're welcome to stay as long as you like during our opening hours.

Is the facility wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our facility is fully wheelchair accessible. We have ramps, elevators, and accessible restrooms throughout the building. Wheelchairs are available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis. We also provide assistive listening devices for tours and large-print materials upon request. If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact us in advance so we can ensure we're prepared to accommodate you.

Can I take photographs?

Yes, personal photography without flash is permitted in most areas for non-commercial use. Some special exhibitions may have photography restrictions, which will be clearly marked. Tripods, selfie sticks, and professional photography equipment require a special permit. We ask that you be respectful of other visitors and artifacts when photographing. Commercial photography requires advance permission and a permit fee.

Are there facilities for children?

Yes! We welcome families with children. We have activity sheets available for different age groups, family-friendly tours, and quarterly family days with special programming. Baby changing facilities are available in all restrooms. Strollers are permitted in most areas, though baby carriers are recommended during busy times. Our café offers child-friendly food options.

Do you have a café or restaurant?

We have a café on-site offering light refreshments, beverages, sandwiches, and snacks. The café is open during our regular operating hours. While we don't have a full restaurant, our café provides sufficient options for a light meal. You're also welcome to bring packed lunches and use our designated eating areas (food is not permitted in the galleries).

Visiting Questions

Where can I park?

Public parking is available within a short walk of our facility. We can provide detailed parking information and directions when you contact us or visit our website. Unfortunately, we do not have dedicated on-site parking. We recommend using public transport when possible, as our facility is well-connected to bus and rail services.

Can I bring food and drinks into the galleries?

No, food and drinks are not permitted in the exhibition galleries to protect the artifacts. However, bottled water is allowed in sealed containers. We have a café on-site and designated eating areas where you can enjoy food and beverages. You're welcome to bring packed lunches to enjoy in these areas.

What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable clothing and shoes, as you'll be walking and standing during your visit. Our building is climate-controlled at 18-20°C (64-68°F) to protect the artifacts, so you may want to bring a light jacket or sweater. There is no formal dress code - casual attire is perfectly acceptable.

Can I leave and re-enter on the same day?

Yes, you can leave and re-enter on the same day with your admission ticket. Just let our reception staff know when you're leaving, and they'll validate your ticket for re-entry. This allows you to take breaks, have lunch outside the facility, or run errands while visiting.
